Hatun Mache.

Hatun Mache which in Spanish means “big cave” is located an hour and a half from Huaraz, at 4,200 m in the Cordillera Negra. It has an area of ​​200 hectares, the rock we find here is granite eroded by water, wind and glaciers, it has many attractions, such as cave paintings, archaeological evidence, it houses a wonderful stone forest with shapes of capricious figures such as : toad, turtle, eagle, elephant; In the most extensive rocks (in walls) figures of human faces are observed, it is conducive to develop sport climbing, it has equipped routes that are located in the external part of the forest.
Hatun Mache is today the largest rock climbing school in Peru, there is a wide variety of sports routes of all levels between 15 to 60 meters. For beginners and experts, it is also an excellent place for climbing blocks or boulders, there is an area for camping and it has a shelter, with a capacity for 50 people, with kitchen, bathroom and overnight services.

Day 1 Huaraz / Catac / Refuge
Departure from Huaraz with direction to Catac before reaching Conococha, we are a turnoff to the west side, it is 1:30 min by transport at 4,200 meters above sea level in the Black Mountain Range, installation in the refuge and go climbing. (L, D)
Day 2 Refuge/ Climbing
Climbing all day on different routes (B, L, D)
Day 3 Refuge / Huaraz
Return in the afternoon to Huaraz (B, L)
