513 Lake

Known as 513 because it is fed by Glacier No. 513, according to the National Glacier Inventory. It is a glacial lagoon located in the Cordillera Blanca.

Itinerary

Day 1: Huaraz (3,100 m / 10,171 ft) / Carhuaz / Shonquil (3,600 m / 11,811 ft) / Laguna 513 (4,450 m / 14,600 ft) / Huaraz

Departure (6:00 am) We will pick you up from your hotel with our transportation and travel to the north side of Huaraz towards Carhuaz. We will stop for 30 minutes for breakfast. Then, we will pass through the town of Hualcan until we reach Shonquilpampa with our transportation. We will check into Huascaran National Park. We will pay the entrance fee (National S/ 15.00 and International S/ 30.00 for a one-day visit). From here, we will begin walking along a well-marked trail that will lead us to Rajupaquinan Lagoon. After a rest, we will continue climbing until we reach Laguna 513. We will have views of the surrounding mountains, such as Hualcan, and the turquoise color of the lagoon. After a break, lunch, and photography, you can visit the third and fourth lagoons, called Cochca. We’ll then return along the same trail to our transportation and return to Huaraz.
