Imagine trekking through remote glacial valleys, crossing high mountain passes, and standing face-to-face with the iconic pyramid of Nevado Alpamayo, often called “the most beautiful mountain in the world.”

This is not just a trek — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime high-altitude adventure in the stunning Cordillera Blanca, designed for travelers seeking raw nature, challenge, and unforgettable landscapes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Huaraz – Conay – Hualcayán – Calamina Camp

Early morning departure from Huaraz, driving north through the scenic Callejón de Huaylas to Caraz and onward to Conay. Here, we meet our muleteers and donkeys.
We begin our trek with a gradual ascent to our first campsite.

  • Camp: Calamina
  • Altitude: 3,850 m / 12,631 ft
  • Hiking time: 4 – 5 hours

We hike uphill to the beautiful Cullicocha Lake, with stunning views of Santa Cruz Norte. We then reach a high mountain pass before descending to camp.

  • Highest point: 4,750 m / 15,584 ft
  • Camp: Osoruri
  • Altitude: 4,450 m / 14,600 ft
  • Hiking time: 5 – 6 hours

(duration approximately 5/6 hours).

Today we cross Vientona Pass and descend into the Alpamayo Valley, surrounded by glacial lakes and dramatic peaks, arriving at base camp.

  • Highest point: 4,750 m / 15,584 ft
  • Camp: Jancarurish (Alpamayo Base Camp)
  • Altitude: 4,250 m / 13,944 ft
  • Hiking time: 6 – 7 hours

We hike up to the famous viewpoint of Alpamayo’s iconic pyramid face, often called “the most beautiful mountain in the world.”
Then we gear up and ascend onto the glacier to reach High Camp.

  • Camp: Alpamayo High Camp
  • Altitude: 5,400 m / 17,717 ft
  • Hiking time: 5 – 6 hours
  • Note: Overnight on snow

After breakfast, we descend with the support of ropes and possible rappels, navigating crevasses safely.
We continue down to the valley with breathtaking views of Artesonraju.

  • Camp: Arhuaycocha
  • Altitude: 4,350 m / 14,272 ft
  • Hiking time: 6 – 7 hours

A scenic day trekking through the Santa Cruz Valley, passing the beautiful lakes Ichiccocha and Jatuncocha.

  • Camp: Llamacorral
  • Altitude: 3,750 m / 12,303 ft
  • Hiking time: 5 hours
  • : 3 hours

Final descent to Cashapampa, where private transport awaits for the return to Huaraz.

  • Hiking time: 4 hours
  • Driving time: 3 hours
