Day 1: Huaraz – Cuartelhuain (4,170 m / 13,681 ft) – Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m / 15,420 ft) – Mitucocha (4,230 m / 13,877 ft)
Departure at 4:00 a.m. from your hotel in Huaraz.
We’ll drive south passing through Recuay, Chiquián, Llamac, and Pocpa until
reaching Cuartelhuain (4,170 m / 13,681 ft), approximately a 5-hour
drive. From here, our donkeys will carry the gear and supplies. We start our
hike ascending to Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m / 15,420 ft), then descend
to our campsite at Mitucocha (4,230 m / 13,877 ft).

Day 2: Mitucocha – Carhuac Pass (4,650 m / 15,256 ft) – Carhuacocha (4,138 m / 13,573 ft)
Early in the morning we begin our trek towards Carhuac
Pass (4,650 m / 15,256 ft), with stunning views of the Huayhuash peaks.
Then we descend to our camp beside the scenic Carhuacocha Lake (4,138 m /
13,573 ft).

Day 3: Carhuacocha – Siula Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) – Huayhuash (4,350 m / 14,272 ft)
We continue trekking through beautiful turquoise
lakes — Quesillococha, Siula, and Carnicero — surrounded by stunning
peaks such as Jirishanca, Siula Grande, Jurao, and Carnicero. We’ll
cross the Siula Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) and descend to the Huayhuash
campsite (4,350 m / 14,272 ft).

Day 4: Huayhuash – Portachuelo Pass (4,750 m / 15,584 ft) – Viconga (4,407 m / 14,457 ft)
After breakfast, we climb towards Portachuelo
Pass (4,750 m / 15,584 ft) with views of the Raura Mountain Range
and Viconga Lake. Our camp will be near the Guñoc hot springs (4,407
m / 14,457 ft) where we can enjoy a relaxing bath.

Day 5: Viconga – Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404 ft) – Cuyocpampa (4,560 m / 14,961 ft)
We ascend to Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404
ft), the highest point of the entire circuit. Optionally, we can hike to San
Antonio Viewpoint (5,050 m / 16,469 ft) for an unforgettable panoramic view
of the Huayhuash range. Then descend to Cuyocpampa Valley (4,560 m / 14,961
ft).

Day 6: Cuyocpampa – San Antonio Pass (5,020 m / 16,469 ft) – Huayllapa (3,500 m / 11,482 ft) – Huatiac (4,350 m / 14,272 ft)
We’ll ascend again to San Antonio Viewpoint
(5,020 m / 16,469 ft) to enjoy breathtaking views of the Huayhuash
mountains. Then descend to Huayllapa (3,500 m / 11,482 ft), a small
village with shops and a phone line. After a short rest, continue ascending to Huatiac
Camp (4,350 m / 14,272 ft).

Day 7: Huatiac – Tapush Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) – Yaucha Pass (4,790 m / 15,715 ft) – Jahuacocha (4,100 m / 13,451 ft)
Today we climb to Tapush Pass (4,800 m / 15,748
ft) and continue to Yaucha Pass (4,790 m / 15,715 ft), enjoying
impressive mountain and valley views. We descend to the beautiful Jahuacocha
Camp (4,100 m / 13,451 ft) — one of the most spectacular spots in the
entire trek.

Day 8: Jahuacocha – Llamac (3,300 m / 10,826 ft) – Huaraz
Early in the morning, we begin our final day,
crossing Llamac Pass (4,350 m / 14,272 ft) and descending to Llamac
Village (3,300 m / 10,826 ft), where our private transport will be waiting
to take us back to Huaraz.

We’ll drive south passing through Recuay, Chiquián, Llamac, and Pocpa until reaching Cuartelhuain (4,170 m / 13,681 ft), approximately a 5-hour drive. From here, our donkeys will carry the gear and supplies. We start our hike ascending to Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m / 15,420 ft), then descend to our campsite at Mitucocha (4,230 m / 13,877 ft).

We continue trekking through beautiful turquoise lakes — Quesillococha, Siula, and Carnicero — surrounded by stunning peaks such as Jirishanca, Siula Grande, Jurao, and Carnicero. We’ll cross the Siula Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) and descend to the Huayhuash campsite (4,350 m / 14,272 ft).

After breakfast, we climb towards Portachuelo Pass (4,750 m / 15,584 ft) with views of the Raura Mountain Range and Viconga Lake. Our camp will be near the Guñoc hot springs (4,407 m / 14,457 ft) where we can enjoy a relaxing bath.

Day 5: Viconga – Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404 ft) – Cuyocpampa (4,560 m / 14,961 ft)
We ascend to Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404 ft), the highest point of the entire circuit. Optionally, we can hike to San Antonio Viewpoint (5,050 m / 16,469 ft) for an unforgettable panoramic view of the Huayhuash range. Then descend to Cuyocpampa Valley (4,560 m / 14,961 ft).

After breakfast, we climb towards Portachuelo Pass (4,750 m / 15,584 ft) with views of the Raura Mountain Range and Viconga Lake. Our camp will be near the Guñoc hot springs (4,407 m / 14,457 ft) where we can enjoy a relaxing bath.

Day 5: Viconga – Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404 ft) – Cuyocpampa (4,560 m / 14,961 ft)
We ascend to Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404 ft), the highest point of the entire circuit. Optionally, we can hike to San Antonio Viewpoint (5,050 m / 16,469 ft) for an unforgettable panoramic view of the Huayhuash range. Then descend to Cuyocpampa Valley (4,560 m / 14,961 ft).

Early in the morning, we begin our final day, crossing Llamac Pass (4,350 m / 14,272 ft) and descending to Llamac Village (3,300 m / 10,826 ft), where our private transport will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz.

The Cordillera Huayhuash: is one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the Peruvian Andes. It was a region that attracted worldwide attention after Joe Simpson's graphic presentation of his rise to Siula Grande in his book and movie "Touching the Void." Our trip includes days the complete circuit crossing overpasses, all in the vicinity of 5,000 m. As the Punta Cuyoc Pass and an ascent to the San Antonio Pass to have incredible views, every day it offers beautiful background views in constant change of very high peaks that include the characteristic spire like Jirishanca Peak and the impressive Yerupaja Summit at 6,640 m the second Peru's highest mountain, at night, we will camp in quiet places next to glacial lakes and meadows in this incomparable corner of the Andes.

Day 1 Huaraz / Cuartelhuain (4,100 m) Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m) / Mitucocha (4,230 m)
Departure at 4:00 am. Pick up from your hotel and we will travel with our private transportation to the south of the city of Huaraz, passing through Recuay, Chiquian, Llamac and Pocpa, until we reach Cuartelhuain 4,100 m (5 hrs) from this point we will transport the equipment and food on donkeys. , we will begin to walk along a slightly steep path until we reach the Cacanan Punta pass 4,700 m then we will begin to descend until we reach our Janca camp 4,230 m (4/5 hrs of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 2 Mitucocha / Carhuac Pass (4,650 m) / Carhuacocha (4,138 m)
Very early we will begin the walk, appreciating the beautiful peaks of the Huayhuash mountain range of the Carhuac Pass 4,650 m then we will descend until we reach the camp in the Carhuacocha lagoon 4,138 m (4/5 hrs of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 3 Carhuacocha / Siula Pass (4,800 m) / Huayhuash (4,350 m)
We will continue with our walk, passing through impressive lagoons, such as Quesillococha, Siula and the beautiful mountains such as the Jirishanca Grande, Siula, Jurao, Carnicero and Trapezio. We will pass the Siula Pass 4,800 m and descend until we reach the Huayhuash camp 4,350 m (6/7 hrs. walk) (B, A, D)
Day 4 Huayhuash / Paso Portachuelo (4,750 m) / Viconga Baños de Guñoc (4,407 m)
After breakfast we will ascend to cross the Portachuelo pass 4,750 m from where we will appreciate the mountains of the Raura mountain range and the Viconga lagoon, we will camp at the exit of the channel 4,407 m, 20 minutes from the camp there are hot springs where we will take a bath (5 / 6 hours) (D, A, C)
Day 5 Viconga / Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m) /Cuyocpampa (4,560 m)
After breakfast we will start climbing until we reach the Punta Cuyoc pass 5,000 m the highest pass of the entire trek, optional ascend to the San Antonio viewpoint (5,020 m) from where there is an impressive view of the mountain range, then we will descend until we reach the valley of cuyocpampa 4,560 m (5/6 hours) (D, A, C)
Day 6 Cuyocpampa / San Antonio Pass (5,020 m) / Huayllapa / Huatiac (4,350 m)
We will ascend to the San Antonio viewpoint (5,020 m) we will have an impressive view of the Huayhuash mountain range and then we will descend to the town of Huayllapa 3,600 m where there is a telephone and shops, after a rest we will begin to ascend to our camp in Huatiac 4,350 m 6/7 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 7 Huatiac / Tapush Pass (4,800 m) / Yaucha Pass (4,790 m)/ Jahuacocha (4,100)
Very early we will continue with our trek ascending to the Tapush pass 4,800 m and we will descend to the Cashpapampa near to the Susucocha lagoon and ascend to the Yaucha pass (4,790 m) and then continue to the viewpoint and descend to the Jahuacocha camp (4,100) (6/7 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 8 Jahuacocha / Llamac / Huaraz / Hotel
We will start walking very early passing the Punta Llamac pass 4,350 m and we will descend to the town of Llamac 3,300 m where our transportation will be waiting for us for our return to Huaraz (4 hours of walking) (4 hours of transport) (B, L)

At night, we will camp in peaceful locations beside glacial lakes and meadows in this incomparable corner of the Andes.

ITINERARY:
Day 1: Huaraz – Cuartelhuain (4,170 m / 13,681 ft) – Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m / 15,420 ft) – Mitucocha (4,230 m / 13,877 ft)
Departure at 4:00 a.m. from your hotel in Huaraz. We’ll drive south passing through Recuay, Chiquián, Llamac, and Pocpa until reaching Cuartelhuain (4,170 m / 13,681 ft), approximately a 5-hour drive. From here, our donkeys will carry the gear and supplies. We start our hike ascending to Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m / 15,420 ft), then descend to our campsite at Mitucocha (4,230 m / 13,877 ft).

Day 2: Mitucocha – Carhuac Pass (4,650 m / 15,256 ft) – Carhuacocha (4,138 m / 13,573 ft)
Early in the morning we begin our trek towards Carhuac Pass (4,650 m / 15,256 ft), with stunning views of the Huayhuash peaks. Then we descend to our camp beside the scenic Carhuacocha Lake (4,138 m / 13,573 ft).

Day 3: Carhuacocha – Siula Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) – Huayhuash (4,350 m / 14,272 ft)
We continue trekking through beautiful turquoise lakes — Quesillococha, Siula, and Carnicero — surrounded by stunning peaks such as Jirishanca, Siula Grande, Jurao, and Carnicero. We’ll cross the Siula Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) and descend to the Huayhuash campsite (4,350 m / 14,272 ft).

Day 4: Huayhuash – Portachuelo Pass (4,750 m / 15,584 ft) – Viconga (4,407 m / 14,457 ft)
After breakfast, we climb towards Portachuelo Pass (4,750 m / 15,584 ft) with views of the Raura Mountain Range and Viconga Lake. Our camp will be near the Guñoc hot springs (4,407 m / 14,457 ft) where we can enjoy a relaxing bath.

Day 5: Viconga – Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404 ft) – Cuyocpampa (4,560 m / 14,961 ft)
We ascend to Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m / 16,404 ft), the highest point of the entire circuit. Optionally, we can hike to San Antonio Viewpoint (5,050 m / 16,469 ft) for an unforgettable panoramic view of the Huayhuash range. Then descend to Cuyocpampa Valley (4,560 m / 14,961 ft).

Day 6: Cuyocpampa – San Antonio Pass (5,020 m / 16,469 ft) – Huayllapa (3,500 m / 11,482 ft) – Huatiac (4,350 m / 14,272 ft)
We’ll ascend again to San Antonio Viewpoint (5,020 m / 16,469 ft) to enjoy breathtaking views of the Huayhuash mountains. Then descend to Huayllapa (3,500 m / 11,482 ft), a small village with shops and a phone line. After a short rest, continue ascending to Huatiac Camp (4,350 m / 14,272 ft).

Day 7: Huatiac – Tapush Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) – Yaucha Pass (4,790 m / 15,715 ft) – Jahuacocha (4,100 m / 13,451 ft)
Today we climb to Tapush Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft) and continue to Yaucha Pass (4,790 m / 15,715 ft), enjoying impressive mountain and valley views. We descend to the beautiful Jahuacocha Camp (4,100 m / 13,451 ft) — one of the most spectacular spots in the entire trek.

Day 8: Jahuacocha – Llamac (3,300 m / 10,826 ft) – Huaraz
Early in the morning, we begin our final day, crossing Llamac Pass (4,350 m / 14,272 ft) and descending to Llamac Village (3,300 m / 10,826 ft), where our private transport will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz.

How to Get to Huaraz from Lima: Bus or Flight
Option 1 – Bus (Recommended for better acclimatization)
Traveling by bus from Lima to Huaraz takes approximately 8 hours. Several companies offer comfortable, safe transportation services with sleeper seats. (cruz del sur, móvil bus)
The overnight trip is ideal, as it allows you to rest during the journey and make the most of your travel time in Huaraz.
Option 2 – Flight (Faster, but requires caution due to altitude)
LATAM Airlines operates direct flights from Lima to Anta Airport (ATA), located just 40 minutes from downtown Huaraz.
The flight lasts approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes. It’s an excellent alternative if you have limited time, although it’s recommended to take precautions to properly acclimatize to the altitude.
Acclimatization in Huaraz
Acclimatization is key to safely enjoying tours in the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash (1 to 2 days).
Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and caffeine during the first few days, and do light activities before starting your hikes or climbs.
Altitude sickness (soroche) can negatively impact your experience if you don’t acclimatize gradually
Acclimatization in Huaraz is essential for safely enjoying your tours and hikes in the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash. It is recommended to stay for 1 to 2 days before starting your mountain activities
