Mateo Peak

Mateo Peak is a popular mountain and introductory climbing mountain in Peru Cordillera Blanca, reaching about 5,150 meters (16,900 feet). It is known for its easy access, gentle snow slopes, and spectacular views of peaks like Huascarán, Chopicalqui, and Contrahierbas, making it ideal for acclimatization and first-time high-altitude climbers.

Itinerary

Day 1 Huaraz (3,100 m) / Tunnel (4,736 m) / Summit (5,150 m) / Tunnel / Huaraz

Departure at 3:00 am. Pick up from your hostel and transfer with our private transportation to the north of Huaraz towards Carhuaz. Then, we will take the route to Chacas until we reach the Punta Olímpica tunnel (4,737 m). From there, we will begin to ascend the rocky moraine until we reach the glacier. After putting on our mountain gear and roping ourselves in, we will begin the climb via the normal route to the summit. After taking a few photos, we will return to the moraine and then to Huaraz.
