Itinerary
Day 1 Huaraz / Chiquian / Llamac / Cuartelhuain (4,170 m)
Departure at 8:00 am. Pick up from your hotel and we will travel with our private transportation to the south of the city of Huaraz, passing through Recuay, Chiquian, Llamac and Pocpa, until we reach the Cuartelhuain camp 4,170 m (5 hours Transportation) (L, D)
Day 2 Cuartelhuain / Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m) / Mitucocha (4,230 m)
From this camp we will transport the equipment and food on donkeys, we will begin to walk along a slightly steep path until we reach the Cacanan Punta pass 4,700 m then we will begin to descend until we reach our Janca camp 4,230 m (4/5 hours of walking) (D, A, C)
Day 3 Mitucocha / Carhuac Pass (4,650 m) / Carhuacocha (4,138 m)
Very early we will begin the walk, appreciating the beautiful peaks of the Huayhuash mountain range of the Carhuac Pass 4,650 m then we will descend until we reach the camp in the Carhuacocha lake 4,138 m (4/5 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 4 Carhuacocha / Siula Pass (4,800 m) / Huayhuash (4,350 m)
We will continue with our walk, passing through impressive lagoons, such as Quesillococha, Siula and the beautiful mountains such as the Jirishanca Grande, Siula, Jurao, Carnicero and Trapezio. We will pass the Siula Pass 4,800 m and descend until we reach the Huayhuash camp 4,350 m (6/7 hours. walking) (B, L, D)
Day 5 Huayhuash / Portachuelo Pass (4,750 m) / Viconga Baños de Guñoc (4,400 m)
After breakfast we will ascend until we cross the Portachuelo pass 4,750 m from where we will appreciate the mountains of the Raura mountain range and the Viconga lagoon, camp 4,400 m, 20 minutes from the camp there are hot springs where we will take a bath (5/6 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 6 Viconga / Punta Cuyoc Pass (5,000 m) / Cuyocpampa (4,500 m)
This day we will begin to climb until we reach the Punta Cuyoc pass 5,000 m, the highest pass of the entire trek, then we will descend until we reach the Cuyoc camp 4,500 m (5/6 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 7 Cuyocpampa / Santa Rosa Pass (5,050 m) / Cutatambo (4,250 m)
We will ascend to the highest pass on the Huayhuash route. From this point, we can appreciate lagoons and mountains such as Jurao, Sarapo, Siula Grande, and Yerupajá. After lunch, we will continue our descent to our campsite in Cutatambo 4,250 m (6-7 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 8 Rest Day in Cutatambo (4,250 m)
Visit sarapococha and cerro gran vista 5,152 m (3 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 9 Cutatambo / Huayllapa Village (3,500 m)
Today the hike continues down the Calinca Valley to the village of Huayllapa, where you can buy toiletries, generic medications, drinks, batteries, and more. The village also offers hostels with Wi-Fi, hot showers, and charging stations for mobile phones and cameras. camp in huayllapa 4,500 m (5/6 hours. walking) (B, L, D)
Day 10 Huayllapa / Tapush Pass (4,800 m) / Gashpapampa (4,450)
Very early we will continue with our trek ascending to the Tapush pass 4,800 m and then we will descend to the Gashpapampa camp 4,450 (4/5 hours of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 11 Gashpapampa / Yaucha Pass (4,850 m) / Jahuacocha (4,100 m)
We will ascend to the Yaucha pass (4,850 m) and then we will continue to the miador where we will have a view of the snow-capped Yerupaja, the 2nd highest mountain in Peru and the Rondoy, Jirishanca chico and the Jahuacocha lagoons, then we will descend to the Jahuacocha camp 4,100 m (6/7 hours. walking) (B, L, D)
Day 12 Jahuacocha / Llamac / Huaraz / Hotel
We will start walking very early passing the Punta Llamac pass 4,350 m and we will descend to the town of Llamac 3,300 m where our transportation will be waiting for us for our return to Huaraz (4 hours of walking) (4 hours of transportation) (B, L)
