Program
Departure from the port of Puno at 7:15 AM towards the Uros Floating Islands. After approximately 25 minutes by boat, we arrive for a guided visit of around 1 hour to learn about the traditions and lifestyle of this ancestral community.
We then continue to Taquile Island, located at 3,950 m / 12,959 ft above sea level. The island is internationally recognized for its rich ethnic and cultural heritage. Its inhabitants preserve ancient Andean traditions and are especially famous for their extraordinary textile techniques, mainly practiced by the men of the community.
Taquile’s textiles were declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO.
During the excursion, we will visit the main square, artisan center, and local museum. A traditional lunch at a local restaurant is included. Later, we descend from the opposite side of the island before returning by boat to Puno, followed by hotel transfer.
