Itinerary
Day 1: La Paz → Pinaya → Base Camp (Puente Roto) – 4,500 m / 14,764 ft
Departure from La Paz towards the traditional village of Pinaya, located at the foothills of Illimani. After meeting the mule drivers and organizing expedition equipment, the trek continues to Puente Roto Base Camp. The afternoon is ideal for rest, acclimatization, and enjoying spectacular views of the Cordillera Real.
Day 2: Base Camp → Nido de Cóndores High Camp – 5,500 m / 18,045 ft
After breakfast, the ascent begins towards Nido de Cóndores High Camp, located on the glacier slopes of Illimani. This challenging hike includes rocky terrain and glacier sections with breathtaking mountain scenery. Upon arrival, there is time to prepare climbing gear, rest, and enjoy the sunset over the Andes.
Day 3: Summit Illimani (6,438 m / 21,122 ft) → Base Camp – 4,500 m / 14,764 ft
Very early morning departure for the summit attempt of Illimani, Bolivia’s second-highest mountain. The climb follows snow and glacier routes with panoramic views of the Andes, Lake Titicaca, and La Paz. After reaching the summit and taking time for photos and celebration, descent continues back to High Camp and further down to Base Camp.
Day 4: Return to La Paz – 3,600 m / 11,811 ft
After breakfast at Base Camp, descent to Pinaya village where private transport awaits for the return journey to La Paz. End of the expedition.
