Itinerary
Day 1 Huaraz / Cashapampa / Llamacorral (3,760 m)
Transfer to the north of Huaraz (3,090 m), passing through the towns of Carhuaz, Yungay, and Caraz. We will then arrive at Cashapampa (2,900 m). From there, our hike begins to the Llamacorral campsite (3,760 m) (4 hrs).
Day 2 Llamacorral / Taullipampa (4,250 m)
We will continue our hike through the wide and flat Santa Cruz ravine, crossing the Ichiccocha and Taullipampa lagoons. From Quisuar, we will begin a side hike toward Alpamayo Base Camp until we reach Arhuaycocha Lagoon, from where we have splendid views of Quitaraju (6,040 m), Alpamayo (5,947 m), Artezonraju (6,025 m), and others. We will then cross to our camp at Taullipampa (4,250 m) (5 hrs).
Day 3 Taullipampa / Pass (4,750 m) / Cachinapampa
We will begin climbing to Punta Unión Pass (4,750 m), from where we can see a large part of the Cordillera Blanca and Negra mountains. We will then begin descending into the Huaripampa ravine until we reach Cachinapampa Camp (3,600 m) (6 hrs).
Day 4 Cachinapampa / Molino (3,850 m)
We will continue descending to the small town of Huaripampa, and then ascend to Molino. 3,850 m (12,800 ft), (4 hrs)
Day 5 Molino / Avalanche (14,530 ft)
After breakfast, we will ascend to our avalanche camp at 14,530 ft (4 hrs)
Day 6 Avalanche / Paso (15,850 ft) / Ulta / Huaraz
After breakfast, we will ascend to Punta Yanayacu Pass (15,850 ft). From there, we will enjoy a splendid panoramic view of Mount Huascarán and Chopicalqui. We will descend to the Ulta Gorge and return to Huaraz.
