mountain that is located in the Andes mountain range located in the northern
part of the western branch of the Cordillera Blanca, within the Huascarán
National Park in Peru. It reaches an altitude of 5,947 m. It was proclaimed by
the magazine Alpinismus of Munich Germany in 1966 as “The Most Beautiful
Mountain in the World”

We head north from Huaraz toward Caraz, visiting the traditional villages of
the Callejón de Huaylas. We then arrive at Cashapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft),
where the muleteers and donkeys will be waiting to transport food and
equipment. From here, we begin our trek to Ichiccocha (3,900 m / 12,795
ft). (L, D)

+1,000 m / +3,281 ft
Duration: 3–4 hours approx.
Day 2:
Ichiccocha – Arhuaycocha Base Camp (4,350 m / 14,272 ft)
We continue
trekking toward Base Camp, passing the beautiful Ichiccocha and Atuncocha
lakes. Along the way, we enjoy spectacular views of: Artesonraju, Taulliraju, Quitaraju.

Day 3: Base Camp
– High Camp (5,450 m / 17,881 ft)
We begin our ascent
to High Camp. The trail climbs steadily through forests of quenual trees and
ichu grass. We cross loose moraine terrain before reaching the glacier. After
ascending a gully, we descend slightly to reach High Camp (5,450 m / 17,881 ft).

Day 4: High Camp
– Summit (5,947 m / 19,511 ft) – High Camp
Early morning
alpine start. Most of the ascent is done at night to take advantage of optimal
snow conditions. Temperatures range between -15°C to -20°C (5°F to -4°F).
The climb is of
moderate difficulty, with slopes between 65° and 70°, including a 300-meter
section of hard ice. From the rimaya, we continue to the summit (5,947 m /
19,511 ft), where we are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Cordillera
Blanca.
After photos at the
summit, we descend by rappel following the same route back to High Camp. (B,

After breakfast, we
pack up camp and descend with the donkeys to Cashapampa, where our private
transport will be waiting to take us back to your hotel in Huaraz.

Day 3: Base Camp – High Camp (5,450 m / 17,881 ft)
We begin our ascent to High Camp. The trail climbs steadily through forests of quenual trees and ichu grass. We cross loose moraine terrain before reaching the glacier. After ascending a gully, we descend slightly to reach High Camp (5,450 m / 17,881 ft). (B, L, D)
Elevation gain: +1,100 m / +3,609 ft
Duration: 5–6 hours approx.
Day 4: High Camp – Summit (5,947 m / 19,511 ft) – High Camp
Early morning alpine start. Most of the ascent is done at night to take advantage of optimal snow conditions. Temperatures range between -15°C to -20°C (5°F to -4°F).
The climb is of moderate difficulty, with slopes between 65° and 70°, including a 300-meter section of hard ice. From the rimaya, we continue to the summit (5,947 m / 19,511 ft), where we are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Cordillera Blanca.
After photos at the summit, we descend by rappel following the same route back to High Camp. (B, L, D)

Day 5: High Camp – Base Camp (4,350 m / 14,272 ft)
Descent along the same route, carefully navigating crevasses and crossing the moraine back to Base Camp.

Day 6: Base Camp – Cashapampa – Huaraz Hotel (3,100 m / 10,171 ft)
After breakfast, we pack up camp and descend with the donkeys to Cashapampa, where our private transport will be waiting to take us back to your hotel in Huaraz.

Alpamayo (in Quechua means Allpa Mayu) is a mountain that is located in the Andes mountain range located in the northern part of the western branch of the Cordillera Blanca, within the Huascarán National Park in Peru. It reaches an altitude of 5,947 m. It was proclaimed by the magazine Alpinismus of Munich Germany in 1966 as “The Most Beautiful Mountain in the World”

ITINERARY:
Day 1: Huaraz (3,100 m / 10,171 ft) – Cashapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft) – Ichiccocha (3,900 m / 12,795 ft)
Departure: 07:00 AM We head north from Huaraz toward Caraz, visiting the traditional villages of the Callejón de Huaylas. We then arrive at Cashapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft), where the muleteers and donkeys will be waiting to transport food and equipment. From here, we begin our trek to Ichiccocha (3,900 m / 12,795 ft). Day 2: Ichiccocha – Arhuaycocha Base Camp (4,350 m / 14,272 ft)
